Chapter11Christ Appears to the Nephites

◆ About this chapter

Chapter 11 of the Book of Mormon serves as a pivotal narrative climax, recounting the resurrection appearance of Jesus Christ to the Nephite people. This section functions as a theological pivot point, bridging the historical narrative of the Nephites with the broader Christian claim of universal redemption. The chapter emphasizes the tangible nature of the resurrection through the Nephites' physical verification of Christ's wounds, thereby grounding doctrinal assertions in sensory experience.

And it came to pass that the multitude went forth, and thrust their hands into his side, and did feel the prints of the nails in his hands and in his feet; and this they did do, going forth one by one until they had all gone forth. 2And they did see with their eyes and did feel with their hands, and did know of a surety, and did bear record, that it was he, of whom it was written by the prophets, that should come. 3And when they had all gone forth, and had seen with their eyes, and had felt with their hands, and had known of a surety, and had borne record, that it was he, of whom it was written by the prophets, that should come. 4And he said unto them: Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself; feel and know that I am the God of Israel, and the God of the whole earth. 5And he said unto them: Ye are my friends, and I am your friend; and I am the light and the life of the world.
