In short. Sacred Atlas is a free comparative library of the world’s sacred texts. It is academic in intent, it does not speak for any faith or institution, and it will contain mistakes. Tell us and we will fix them.

Who provides this site

Sacred Atlas is operated by Freedom Games LLC (indie.io). By using the site you accept these terms.

Independent and non-sectarian

Sacred Atlas presents scripture from many traditions side by side for reading and comparison. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or speaking for any religion, denomination, publisher or religious authority. Parallels and themes are editorial groupings meant to help readers explore; they are not claims that traditions are the same.

Texts, commentary and accuracy

Scripture texts are drawn from public-domain and openly licensed editions and translations. Introductions, summaries, parallels and study material are editorial, and some audio narration and illustrations are machine-generated. Even with care, some material will be incomplete or wrong. Nothing here is a substitute for a scholarly edition or for guidance from your own tradition.

If you find an error — a mistranslation, a wrong verse reference, a misattributed quotation — the contact form reaches us directly, and the correction goes to a person.

Rights holders

If you own rights in material you believe is reproduced here beyond what is permitted, contact us through the contact form with the page URL and what the problem is. We act on genuine requests quickly.

Accounts and what you post

Accounts are optional. Keep your login to yourself; you are responsible for activity on it.
Comments and anything else you publish on the site must be lawful and civil, and must not be spam, harassment or text you do not have the right to share. We may moderate, edit for length, or remove submissions, and close accounts that break these rules.
By posting, you allow us to display what you posted on Sacred Atlas. You can ask us to delete it at any time.

Using the site

Read it, link to it, quote it with attribution — all fine.
Automated access should respect robots.txt and stay at a sane request rate.
Do not attempt to break, overload or gain unauthorised access to the site.

No warranty

The site is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Freedom Games LLC is not liable for any loss arising from use of, or reliance on, anything published here.

Changes

These terms may change; the date at the top changes with them. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept it.
